Samsung is back with its Note series. Galaxy Note 9 has definitely made an impact in the tech world with its 6.4 inch big screen and some amazing new features. The Note series pioneered the big screen smart phones in 2011. Over the last few years, it has been getting bigger and better. Where the Galaxy S series is top-end phone for regular user, the Note 9 is powerhouse for high-end users who always ask for more from technology. The Note 9’s screen is huge – 6.4 inch, that is 0.1 inch bigger than its predecessor.
The bezels on top and bottom side are smaller. The dual camera system has now glass back with finger print scanner been moved from side of the camera to below it. It may seem a minor change in design but it’s great in usability. The screen is one of the best you can have in smart phone with bright and bold colors. It uses Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 9810 or Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB RAM. Eurpoeon model has Samsung chip whereas the North America model has Qualcomm’s processor. Both are really good processor and difference in regular use is almost go without notice.
It has extendable 512GB storage with microSD card. It’s huge screen and bigger battery added some extra grams in weight – now its 250g. With the screen adjust to its maximum resolution, 4,000mAh battery can survive upto 25 hours. The Note 9 runs on Android 8.1 instead of the recently released Android 9 Pie, which is slightly disappointing but we are hopeful that Samsung may roll-in the updates in few weeks. It looks and behaves similar to its predecessor.
The Note 9 has dual 12MB cameras with one wide angle aperture and 2x telephoto. It has an AI software for optimizing shots like Instagram filters. You can choose to switch off these optimization if you don’t like too much AI in your pictures and want some realistic capture. Another great feature is Bluetooth-enabled S Pen which uses a super capacitor to operate the S-Pen away from the phone for up to 30 min. To recharge, you have to slide the pen back in to the phone for 40 seconds. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 costs £899 for 128GB of storage or £1,099 with 512GB of storage.
